Ramón Oliveras
I’m a Swiss musician, composer, producer and multi-media-artist currently living in Zurich. As a queer artist I aspire to question norms, use my privileges to help promote community and continuously evolve my queer practice. I’m the artistic director and drummer of the internationally recognized indie groove jazz quintet Ikarus and part of the queer indie rock trio Dalai Puma. These projects and my upcoming album, a drum solo piece exploring the non-dualistic state of life/death, reflects my philosophy: “It’s not our revolution if we can’t dance!”
My enthusiasm for exploration is one of my core traits and extends to numerous side projects, including the contemporary Opera “Mitosis – an LSD-Opera,” the speculative fiction audio play “Ich 1 A,” the avant pop duo JPTR, and co-organizing the unconference Utopieverdacht. I am also very passioned in linking activism and the music business. I studied jazz drumming and later classical contemporary composition, both at the Zurich University of Arts.

Ramón Oliveras

Ich bin Schweizer Musiker, Komponist, Produzent und Multi-Media-Artist aus Zürich. Als Künstler möchte ich mit meiner Arbeit Normen hinterfragen, mein Privileg nutzen um Gemeinschaft zu fördern und meine queere Praxis kontinuierlich weiterentwickeln. Ich bin der künstlerische Leiter und Schlagzeuger des international anerkannten Indie-Groove-Jazz-Quintetts Ikarus und Teil des queeren Indie-Rock-Trios Dalai Puma. Diese Projekte und mein bald erscheinendes Solo-Album, ein Drumsolo-Stück, das sich mit dem nicht-dualistischen Zustand von Leben/Tod auseinandersetzt, spiegeln meine Philosophie wider: “It’s not our revolution if we can’t dance!”
Neugierde ist einer meiner Kerneigenschaften, weshalb ich in zahlreichen Nebenprojekten mitarbeite. Dazu gehört die zeitgenössische Oper “Mitosis – an LSD-Opera”, ​​das speculativ fiction Hörspiel „Ich 1 A – eine Zukunftsgroteske“, das Avant-Pop Duo JPTR, sowie die Co-Organisation der unconference Utopieverdacht. Ausserdem liegt mir die Verknüpfung von Aktivismus und Musikbusiness sehr am Herzen. Ich habe Jazzschlagzeug und später klassische zeitgenössische Komposition studiert, beides an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste.
